Privacy Notice
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This notice explains what data AskSNP ("we", "the service") collects when you use it, where that data goes, and how long we keep it. We built the service to hold as little as possible and to delete it automatically. Please do not upload confidential, personal, or export-controlled data you are not authorized to share with third-party AI providers (see below).
What we collect
- Uploaded files. The Touchstone (
.sNp) files you upload and the S-parameter data they contain. - Chat prompts. The text you type to request plots or interpretation.
- Technical data. Your IP address (used to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse), a randomly generated session identifier, and error/ diagnostic logs from your browser and our servers.
We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or payment details to use the service.
Third-party AI processing
To interpret your prompts, we send your prompt text together with context derived from your uploaded file to OpenAI, a third-party AI service provider (see the OpenAI Privacy Policy). OpenAI processes your data on its own infrastructure under its own terms. Data sent through its API is generally not used to train its models, but it may be retained for a limited period for abuse monitoring and legal compliance. That retention is outside our control. By using the service you consent to this third-party processing.
Where your data is stored
We rely on the following infrastructure providers (sub-processors):
- Cloudflare R2 — temporary object storage for uploaded files.
- Redis — short-lived cache for parsed data, file metadata, and rate-limiting counters.
- Our application hosting provider (e.g. Railway/Render).
- Sentry — error monitoring (see below).
- OpenAI, as described above.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded files & metadata: up to 12 hours. Files are automatically deleted after 12 hours of inactivity. Uploading a new file deletes your previous one immediately, and only one file is kept per session.
- Parsed data cache: about 30 minutes. A performance cache of your parsed file expires on a rolling ~30-minute window.
- Delete on demand. The "Remove file" button deletes your file and its caches from our storage right away.
- Prompts. We do not persist a durable transcript of your chat on our servers; conversation context lives only for the life of your session. Copies sent to LLM providers are retained under their policies.
- Error logs. Diagnostic logs (including IP address) are retained for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) for reliability and security, then discarded.
Error monitoring
We use Sentry to capture application errors so we can fix outages. Error reports may include technical context such as the request path and a stack trace. We configure Sentry to avoid sending personal data where possible.
Cookies & tracking
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use only the local browser storage necessary to maintain your session and operate the service.
Your choices
Because the service is account-free and auto-deletes data quickly, the simplest way to remove your data is to click "Remove file" or to stop using the service and wait for automatic expiry. If you have questions or a data request, contact us at the address below.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
